Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is an emerging disorder characterized by episodes of remission and relapse that affects around 5 million people worldwide. During the IBD course, inflammation and oxidative stress cause epithelial cell death and tight junction disassembly. These events can be investigated through intestinal organoids, an emerging platform that resembles the complex gut organization. My project aims to understand the influence of a natural compound called Citral in permeability and mucosal repair factors using mouse organoids.
