My research goal is to understand the basis of inflammatory responses at a cellular and molecular level, and how different immune mediators can promote either chronic inflammation or tissue homeostasis. I have experience in different models of inflammation and tissue damage in human, mouse, and zebrafish. I joined Eduardo’s group to exploit the zebrafish model as an in vivo platform to address genetic-environments interactions in the onset of Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). In addition, I am developing zebrafish tools to visualize in vivo and at real-time pathways and mediators involved inflammation, tissue damage and repair/regeneration in the context of IBD.
